2019 Tuesday — In-class Diagnostic Essay

While my students were busy writing the in-class diagnostic essay that was mandated by my department, I clicked this photo. We are in one of the rooms that is used by our construction career classes, so that is why there is a practice wall with open framing on it.

This diagnostic activity is taking 1 hour and 15 minutes of class time that I really don’t have to give away because we only meet once a week. What’s even crazier is that this essay is not to receive a grade! So, it does not become part of the semester’s grade. It’s just time gone from each of my freshman composition classes. Ugh!
