Solar Halo

I slipped over to Orton for a Blip today - and when I got there was treated to a really impressive solar halo. Although I took quite a bit more, this was my favourite from the day.

Halos around the sun or moon are caused by high, thin cirrus clouds drifting high above your head. Tiny ice crystals in Earth's atmosphere create the halos. They do it by refracting and reflecting the light.
