The bee’s knees

When bees flit from flower to flower the nectar sticks to their legs. The phrase "bee's knees" means sweet and good, because the knees of the bee are where all the sweet, good stuff is collected.

That was an exhausting day, made tiresome by the broken air-con in our car (this on a day when the sun returned and the phrase Indian Summer was on everybody's lips). But we had a really nice afternoon with the Yoga Mama on her birthday, including a trip to the local nurseries where I spotted this little fella going about his business.

The evening was a bar mitzvah at Knebworth House which was really nice - relaxed, fun, and the young ones of course were having a ball. True to tradition the teenage girls were giving it their best shot on the disco dancefloor and the boys were in the shadows playing it cool. Or something. TSM had a really supportive time, lots of hugs from friends.

Got home around midnight. Didn't turn into a pumpkin.
