Libraries

This is the entrance to the library on the road where my parents live. I was always so relieved that it was spared the ideological cull carried out by the Tories at the start of their horrendous 'austerity' campaign, which was never anything more than a threadbare cover for a bloodthirsty assault on public services, anyway. The attack on our libraries always seems the best example of the indefensible nature of those policies.

I suppose if anything good has come out of this government, austerity, and Brexit, it is that we no longer have to debate that point that the Tories can't be trusted with the economy; they have simply proven it. Certainly in my lifetime and, I expect, before, the Tories have always been about protecting the interests of the wealthy, whilst throwing enough bones to the middle classes for them to think that a Tory vote was in their favour.

Anyway... this morning I worked from my parents, taking a break for a walk up to Worcester Park for a coffee and a mooch, although there was no sign of the major fire that took place last night. And after that I went over to Hounslow to give a software demonstration before the long drive back north.
