Dunkirk Little Ships.
The Little Ships of Dunkirk were about 850 private boats that sailed from Ramsgate in England to Dunkirk in northern France between 26 May and 4 June 1940 as part of Operation Dynamo, helping to rescue more than 336,000 British, French, and other Allied soldiers who were trapped on the beaches at Dunkirk during the Second World War.Many of the ships came from Teddington. Every year there is a "Veterans Cruise" where the veterans and many of the ships that survived process up the Thames to Teddington Lock. They remain there for the duration of a shortl commemorative service which is held a the Lock. Seeing these boats, and some of the veterans - the oldest this year being 100 years old, is both a moving and humbling spectacle. Due to the crowds this year I was unable to get good photos of the service.
