Calne (Friday 13th September 2019)
Summer made its return on Friday, although I had to wait in at home for a parcel to be signed for anytime up to the end of the day (a new sat-nav and me carless - oh, irony!).
Luckily it came at lunchtime so I was able to venture into town to picnic by the riverside and walk along the Wharf (two swans this time), up to the church and back via some footpaths, taking photographs (included in the Flickr album) along the way. I stopped at the new Calne Pop-Up Pocket Park on the site of the Old Market. This mini-park and community garden was opened on 20 July and is entirely manned by volunteers who have organised events and play areas. I took a few shots including this raised flower bed with these hibiscus syriacus. Apparently the benches and raised beds were made by Calne Men's Shed.
The council were at work in the impressive Town Gardens where I sat in the shaded warmth of the sun reading for quite awhile before continuing home.
Thanks to Bikerbear for hosting Flower Friday.

Lozarhythm Of The Day:
Fairport Convention - White Dress (Live On 'The London Weekend Show') (recorded live, 9th August 1975, London, for LWT)
Fairport Convention: Sandy Denny (vcl), Trevor Lucas (rh gtr), Dave Swarbrick (fiddle), Jerry Donahue (ld gtr), Dave Pegg (bass), Dave Mattacks (dr, perc)
I've now reached Come All Ye - The First Ten Years - The Fifth Disc in that box set, in which Sandy Denny had returned to the fold and recorded their Rising For The Moon album in 1974. The great Dave Swarbrick, their fiddle player and best vocalist after Sandy Denny, had written the beautiful song White Dress for her to sing on the album, and on the box set is an exquisite live rendition performed the following year for The London Weekend Show.
