A helping hand.
What an enjoyable walk we have had.
Started at Burley Station, then to Burley Woodhead, over Ilkley Moor to the Cow and Calf rocks ( where we ate our picnic lunch) then back across the golf course, and through the fields back to Burley.
There was a record turn out of 30!
I think like us, everyone was glad to get out after the Christmas and New Year festivities.
The day was mild, and no rain! Quite a lot of low cloud on the moor, and so you couldn't see very far down across the valley. But good walking weather.
Although it looks quite muddy in the photo, it wasn't as bad as we had expected.
I took a lot of photos of the sheep on the moors, and a very loud donkey we met at a farm, but I liked this photo ,of most of our group, crossing a stream, on top of the moor. The stones were very slippy and so we had to help one another across.
The 85 year olds managed very well today, although B found it hard going at first as she hasn't been well. However she decided to carry on and was glad she had done so, as she felt better for it. (Said she would have a hot bath and a whisky when she got home! Not bad for an 85 year old!)
A good start to 2013!!
