Doing Things Differently

She Only Went Out For A Paper...

... and she came home with this in her bag!!

As Rebecca was walking up our street this morning, she noticed "our" white cat trying to get at something under a car. She shooed the cat away and found this ball of fluff.

What could she do, but scoop it up, put it in her shopping bag with the Sunday paper and bring it home. We put it in a cardboard box in the kitchen, where it widdled, pooed and discovered that it preferred celery and watercress to carrot.

As this was obviously an escaped Christmas present, Rebecca went down the street, looking for potential owners. Finding a hutch in a drive five doors down, she knocked, but no one was home. So she posted several "Have you lost a rabbit?" notes through neighbouring doors and waited for a reply.

As soon as Ben and Jenny heard what had happened, they rushed round. And as can been seen from this blip, Jenny proved a very adept rabbit wrangler!

Rebecca kept looking out for the return of the hutch owners and later in the afternoon saw them speaking to a man and a little girl. She went down the road and the following conversation ensued :

Man with Little Girl : "Have you found a scwewy wabbit?"

Hutch Owner : "N-n-n-nope, but we've had this n-n-n-note put through our d-d-d-door."

Rebecca (arriving at speed) : "Thats my note! And I've got the wabbit."

Man with Little Girl (holding out one of the leaflets they'd been putting through letter boxes) : "Is it this wabbit?"

Rebecca (chewing on the carrot the rabbit rejected) : "Sure is, Doc!"

Ok, ok, so I added a few Warner Bros touches here and there, but thats how it roughly went...

Rebecca told them that she had the escapee in our kitchen and brought them in. The little girl was overjoyed. It was her Christmas present and the relieved dad whispered to Rebecca that they had been searching most of the day and he had just about given up hope. They lived over in another street, so it really was a case of "Run, Rabbit, Run".

So its a happy ending after all. Except I think a certain rabbit wrangler may have been hoping that there was an adoption opportunity in the offing...

That's All Folks!!!
