Anniversary night

Our 20th wedding anniversary was in June and Ian booked a surprise day/night at the hotel where we were married.

Events took an unexpected turn and on the actual anniversary I was in hospital recovering from two emergency operations. Ian rescheduled the date for September 13th not knowing that I would still be recovering from surgery and undergoing chemotherapy.

I hadn't been very well over the past two weeks, but today I woke up feeling more energised and much fitter. The hotel is very close to our house, and we were here within fifteen minutes.

It is a spa hotel with a Roman style pool area. For the first time in six months I had a very brief swim, relaxed on the reclining loungers and went in the sauna. I was unable to benefit from all the spa facilities but enjoyed chilling out and relaxing.

A bottle of champagne was waiting for us in our
luxurious room. Coincidentally the grower was from Hautvillers, where we should have spent the last two days of our cancelled summer holiday.

We had a very filling evening meal in the restaurant and although it is three months late, we are very lucky that we are able to celebrate our special day.
