Down, Down, Deeper and Down...

When we're doing the locks Bella May has to be up there with Frank 'helping'. She knows the routine now. She's right next to him while he winds first the ground paddles up then the gate paddles and then is at his heels when he pushes the heavy oak gates open. As soon as that's done she runs to the side to check me coming through and waits till I'm in. Then it's back to 'help' Frank close them.
On the odd occassions she's stayed on the boat with me, she hates it and can't wait to rise up far enough to jump off. 
This particular lock is at Bingley Five Rise - a series of 5 locks that takes boats up and down the Penines. It's a magnificent feat of engineering.
