Still detached

The engineer arrived this morning - a nice chap! He looked at the problem which was very obvious he then looked at the telegraph pole and said “I know it’s not what you want to hear but that telegraph pole is rotten I daren’t attach the line to it. you’re going to have to have a new telegraph pole!”
Anyone remember the Flanders and Swann song ‘The gas man cometh’?
On a much better note we later had an impromptu invitation for a pre-birthday lunch at the Tempest Arms near Skipton. That definitely brighten the day!!
