Staring out to sea

Nice day for a walk out from St Abbs to Eyemouth and back, especially given the turning point fish and chips. Kinda had to.

The sculpture is part of series in these small Berwickshire towns, most a lot smaller than the big row in Eyemouth. They signify the families waiting for fishermen who will never return. Macabre, perhaps, but a reminder of the force of the sea, and the pain it has inflicted on these communities, while providing their very raison d'être.
