Looking Up
Another day at Hill of Tarvit where we guided visitors around the house and where I took several photos.
Our visitors are invariably impressed with the house and the collection of Frederick Sharp, and today was no exception.
Every room has a different style and form of ceiling and today’s Blipfoto features the corridor which links the Great Hall to the Dining Room.
The ceiling is a series of vaults each illuminated by a pendant lamp which casts cross shadows.
The extra is the ceiling in the dining room which is the finest plaster ceiling in the house.
The design incorporates the initials FS for Frederick Sharp and BW for Beatrice White which is Mrs Sharp’s maiden name.
The date of 1905 is also incorporated. This is the date when the ceiling was completed.
These are either discerned immediately or not at all.
