8.the root of laughter
I went for an early morning walk in clayton woods and woodside quarry, started shooting and just couldn't stop, three hours later and I'm finally home. I'm definately going back again, I barely scratched the surface. Abandonded structures, rock formations, plants and wildlife, absolutely amazing that this is all in the middle of suburbia. For a little bit of wasteland it certainly was busy, with dog walkers, early birds and i even saw the rarest of beasts: a suburban hiker. When spring starts I will go for a wildlife morning I saw four or five rabbits, some squirrells and plenty of birds, imagine what the place is like when they really want to play.
I love this shot, all around the side of the quarry there are sandstone cliffs and overhangs, and all along these overhangs are tree's growing out into to the air, supported only by their roots which grow horizontally into earth, while the overhang is eroded away. These floating trees look amazing with their exposed roots. This root caught my attention immediately with its laughing face.
