Chrysalis

I brought back a few specimens from yesterday's expedition to check, including this seedhead of Large Hemp-nettle. It was only when I looked closely at it that I noticed the beautiful golden chrysalis attached (tautology - as the word chrysalis is derived from the Greek word khrysos "gold"), which seems to belong to a Small Tortoiseshell.  After photographing it, I placed it in a safe place so that the butterfly can emerge next spring.
