Smothered in Custard

This is how our recent family visitors like their plums - with lashings of custard:-)  I gave them some to take away with them and they sent this photo tonight.  Reminds me of school dinners but each to their own!

I entertained two of our neighbours to tea and cakes this afternoon and had hoped to make a plum and almond tray bake for them.  However, I discovered that the recipe called for 350 g of butter (or 12 oz in old money) and decided this was an excessive amount, so they had to make do with shop bought ginger cake instead:-)
