Looking for the light
Today is World Suicide Prevention Day.
One person dies by suicide every forty seconds somewhere in the world.
16 people a day die right here in the UK.
This isn't cancer, or heart disease or ebola, it's not something we need to find a 'cure' for - each and every life lost to suicide is preventable. We can all be that life saving person, listen, love and be there. Start the difficult conversation, listen to what's said in the silences, be a ready shoulder.
Today I thought I'd share a very powerful video I use on the Mental Health First Aid courses - it's not graphic but it's hugely moving, Kevin Hines is an inspirational suicide survivor. Make a coffee, pour yourself a glass of something nice - but take five minutes to watch his story.
"the second my hands left the rail it was an instant regret"
