On test

The recently acquired stand works well with round French movements which can be difficult to test. The rear plate is stamped Japy Frères Medaille d'Honneur and dates from the later years of the 19th century. The quality of these movements is second to none and I rarely find them particularly worn even after over a hundred years of use. Usually it is just a matter of stripping them down, cleaning and reassembling.
