Bells and Whistles

Joys and sorrows.

Wedding Bells. The morning run was a wedding train.  Abergynolwyn station is registered for wedding ceremonies and service we offer is very popular.  It did involve an early start and a lot of tying on ribbons and bows but it was great fun!  I also got a day in the vintage set, using the 1865 guards van.

This afternoon the bell tolled one last time for a volunteer fireman whose ashes were interred at Brynglas Memorial Garden, opposite that station, overlooked by the welsh hills.   A small gathering of friends quietly laid him to rest before returning to Wharf for a drink to his memory.  John Groom.  RIP

The main blip shows the wedding train taking water from the old water tower using the traditional wooden chute.  Extras are the loco for the Interment train waiting in the wings while the afternoon service train departs and a shot of an evening Driver Experience train passing Hendy Halt where i was gathering blackberries.
