Sgwarnog: In the Field

Antenna

The case of the missing antenna.

Indeed, late summer has been the case of the missing Small Tortoiseshells in my neck of the woods, the second brood summer emergence just didn't seem to happen. But there were three in the community garden this afternoon, along with a Peacock and a Painted Lady, so perhaps there's been a mini resurgence.

I popped in on my way back from the football. Bradford City were lucky to get a win against Northampton, after playing poorly for much of the match.

The Cobblers had taken the lead against the run of play in the twentieth minute, and City's game seemed to fall apart, not helped by the typical Valley Parade phenomenon of a stadium full of exasperated sighs every time a pass was misplaced, or the play moved backwards. Northampton sat back and wasted time through the second half and City had plenty of the  ball and lots of corners but it was all a bit blunt. The introduction of Zele Ismail in the 68th minute turned the game and two goals in the last fifteen minutes gave City an unlikely win.
