Swift Watch
Eight years ago Bella came to her first Swift Watch. Tonight Bella's mom made this photograph of Evan and me, as I explained to him what the Swifts do in the chimney, how they cling to each other's backs, and why so many people come have picnics at sunset to watch the Swifts fly down the chimney.
Now Bella and Evan are both big enough and strong enough to join the melee on the hillside as children grab a slab of cardboard and slide down the (real) grass to the (fake grass) soccer field. Bella's delight in sliding is my favorite shot of the night, so it's an Extra. Another video about the Swifts with some Bach variations by the Apollo String Quartet is here.
