Alice Nutter

Had a day out to meet friends over in Pendle country and after coffee at Pendle Village went on to Roughlee for lunch.
The Statue of Alice Nutter is on the roadside through the small village.  She was alleged be a witch after being present at a witch meeting on Good Friday 1612.  Her main accuser was a young girl of nine but although Alice protested her innocence she was tried at Lancaster Castle on 18th August 1612 and hung on the 20th August in Gallows Hill in Lancaster.
