First Day at the workshop!
The teacher's table!
Got to the workshop space in Chester, Nova Scotia, a lovely little fishing/tourist village, early and set up my space. There were 10 students in the class, and the first thing Nancy (our teacher) did was introduce herself and then ask us to do the same! The first woman, Rosi, started off by saying she was originally from Edinburgh Scotland....i thought i hadn't heard her correctly so i asked her to repeat this....what a random thing eh....2 of us originally from Edinburgh! we have become fast friends of course. But there is a big difference, she grew up in the posh part of town, Morningside and grew up in an area mostly made up of hooligans....we had a few laughs about this....she's an amazing artist and lives mostly in England, coming over to Chester for 2 months each year!
The day was wonderful, i was the only one who had already experienced cold wax and oil, all the others who were mostly professional artists in their own medium, were new to this process! It was fascinating to watch as they figured out what to do with this stuff!
Our teacher was just wonderful, so generous in spirit and in materials...she brought all sorts of very wonderful things from her own studio and shared this with us!
In the extra are a couple of the smaller pieces i did on this first day! i was pretty happy with the results. Tried all sorts of new things and explored....i was definitely in my happy zone!
