Beck Isle Museum, Pickering
William Marshall, an agriculturist, built this as England’s first agricultural college. However he died before it was completed and was never opened as a college. After being a house it became a doctors surgery until it became what you see today.
In 1967 it was opened as museum of rural life and Pickering ‘s history as a market town. Today it is still run by volunteers and houses over 50,000 objects.
