Twelfth night
Tonight is traditionally when we take down the Christmas decorations. It marks the twelfth day of Christmas which is the eve of Epiphany, the celebration of the adoration of the magi. It also marks the end of older pagan festivals which celebrated the turn of the year, most notably this would be the end of Yule and it marks the end of the reign of the Lord of Misrule who dates back to pre-Christian Saturnalia. So as you pack away the decorations you can be warmed by the knowledge that you are following the traditions of thousands of years.
