Politics and beer

Angus sorts out a trial module with the Open University before 9:45 - and we’re off (with mum/granny) to get the bus at Dolphinton. Angus gets the train to GLasgow, while mum & I join the Kings Cross service.

Mum changes at Newcastle, where chaos is unfolding due to a broken down train at Darlington. Looks like we’ll both have Delay Repay claims to make.

I walk past Downing Street to meet Dan at the Churchill statue at Parliament Square. There’s a noisy #stopthecoup protest drowning out Boris giving a statement from the lectern. T’internet tells us that he’s threatening an early election if parliament defies his will tomorrow.

Down at Parliament Square it’s quiet, until the #stopthecoup folk turn up with drums, banners, and loudspeakers. It’s a smallish demo, and the mic keeps cutting out, so it’s harder than usual to work out what folk are saying. I jest that it’s a conservative conspiracy - *blue*tooth.

Tim arrives, and we decamp to a local. There’s a chatty homeless guy drinking unfinished pints and scooping up fag ends. Where’s the beeb with their box pop unit when you need ‘em?

It’s a reasonably long night. We eat. We drink. We pause at Downing Street for Dan to shout a message to Boris (https://www.facebook.com/1486830456/posts/10220673991708159?). We break out the whisky back at the flat.
