Procreation
Several UK blippers have said what a good butterfly year this has been, but I've been a bit disappointed. Earlier in the year I was seeing a great spread of varieties but since that wet spell in early August a lot of them have disappeared. We still have plenty of whites, blues and browns, but the big bright butterflies: vanessids, peacocks, commas, etc, have vanished completely. Perhaps a lot of egg-laying has gone on. Maybe they're currently caterpillars and will come back before the end of this month. Meanwhile, I went out this morning on another fruitless search and came back with no more than a mating pair of dragonflies (common darters).
Still, I swear they both have a smile on their face. Be thankful for what you get, eh?
Have a good evening xx
