Why did I wait?

I have had a pot of paint for at least a year (it may actually be two) to paint a small section of rendering beside my front door. Well today was the day I decided and carefully rubbed down the surface removing all dirt and flaking paint - as per instructions. I then brushed up all the bits... such preparation and then began the search for the paint - where did I put it? Finally I found it and the new roller I had bought for the job and within a few minutes the job was done. Unfortunatley within a few more minutes the rain came!!!
On the positive note it gave me a blip!
