Race Day

Up and out early for Alf and I, as Race Day is always very busy. We made our way to the circuit parked up and walked through the crowds to the paddock. It was quite surreal, the crowds were the same as usual, excitement and noise levels very high. The Paddock on the other hand was very quiet, a lot of press but few Team or Race people. We walk ed through and went to find somewhere to watch the race.

We ended up sitting just past the start line with a great view into the first corner.

Unsurprisingly the F2 race had been cancelled so the rest of the timetable changed which meant I had an hour spare, so I walked back up to the paddock.
It was a lot busier but still, unsurprisingly quiet. The drivers and team people were present but a lot had headphones on and although were posing for pictures with children, there was not a lot of other interaction.
I didn't take many shots.
The support races were great, 32 cars into the first hairpin at Spa is an amazing feat. Everyone said they were racing for Antoine and they certainly raced very hard. I've never really followed F2 and F3 but the racing is so close (the cars are the same), I really should pay more attention.

Then the main event. It was a great race. Some very odd decisions from the teams but really pleased Charles LeClerc got his first very well deserved win.
We were sitting next to a load of German lads who were really happy when Lewis overtook Sebastian for second place.
They were happy that an English driver, driving for a British team owned by a German company overtook a German driver.. Very odd..

Anyway it was good.

The journey home was also good, until we got to the tunnel, it was manic. Huge lines of cars, the hold up seemed to be UK passport control. I dread to think what it will be like after brexit.
