The First Thing Wot I Wrote...
...with my new Fountain Pen!
I was so excited to open the parcel when I got home yesterday but I didn't have time to have a go with it until today. When Frank picked me up at the station yesterday we had to quickly pop home to get some things and then down to the boat.
The Club House was open for the campers, caravanners and boaters - some of whom had done a10 mile walk (not me!)
Along with some other musicians/singers we had been asked to perform.
It was a great night.
Anyway, back to the pen!
This morning we set off on our trip to Hebden Bridge and stopped in Skipton for the day so while we were moored I got to grips with filling my fountain pen (I had to watch a YouTube video as it is a bit different to how I remember in the 'olden days'). I wrote the little heart note while Frank was having 40 winks and put it on his plate at lunchtime.
I love my pen. It is made by 'Jim's Hand Turned Pens' and I found it on etsy.
There were lots of different woods to choose from - some beautiful exotic ones from the other side of the world. However I wanted wood from the UK and this one intriuged me - Norfolk Bog Oak from 3300 BC! The photo doesn't do it justice - you can't properly see all the striations in this ancient wood.
You can visit www.adamsonandlow.com/bog-oak/ to find out more about the wood supplier.
I will never buy another plastic pen and I am already thinking about another wooden fountain pen for red ink.
This was the reason I wanted a wooden fountain pen as I was thinking of all the plastic pens I have ever used lying in landfill.
Why on earth did I wait so long?
I suppose it's never too late to do something positive for our wonderful planet :-)
