Looking up...

Going down.

They did it! A proud mum moment.

Sim & Natalie were booked in for the 9 o’clock slot to abseil 540ft down the Broadgate Tower in London. Due to some works on the tube and having to tube then bus and tube again, we made it a few minutes to 9 (Sim & Natalie were already there btw). However, they were in group 3 so we had plenty of time.

Sim has been bricking it all week (his words) but Natalie appeared quite calm. Mr C went off with them to get harnessed up and take photographs and then we both watched and waited for them to descend down the tower. Mr C doing a FB live with running commentary and trying to grab photos whilst I did lots of video clips. All the people from the Epilepsy Society and the abseil instructors were absolutely lovely and very reassuring. This is the second year they have run this event and had an almost full capacity of 50 people as a couple had to pull out. The scariest part, understandably, was going over the edge but once going down they loved it and would do it again... rather them than me. They have done so well raising funds for something very close to all our hearts and I’m immensely proud of them.

Once they were unharnessed (another btw... I used the photo at the end with the barrier to protect Sims modesty as what the harness was doing to him :-D), we went and had a coffee together as they were setting off back home to pick up the van they have hired for the weekend. Sim officially moved out yesterday;-( and today they are driving up to Natalie’s parental home near Hexham to take things back but also collect things to bring down. They drive back home on Monday to officially start their new life together in their new home. A busy weekend for them.

Mr C and I stayed in London and had a wander around Spitalfields and then onto Brick Lane before returning back to Spitalfields for some food from the street food outlets. A tiring but very enjoyable day.
