Time Travel

It can probably be argued that photography is currently the only tool available to man that has the power to time travel, or at the very least, make time stand still via the very nature of the art; preserving a memory in the form of a photograph.

Photography is pretty powerful actually, especially when combined with effects such as black and white. If used properly, one can remove or even accentuate the presence of an era, generation, or perhaps even the present through some of these effects. However, one thing is certain, time never stands still. Even if our watch breaks we continue to age, just as everything else. Even if a photograph helps make time stand still, even if only for a few moments, to encourage a thought or a memory, time continues on.

This, of course, is nothing to be ashamed of or fear. It's not uncommon for western societies to possess a fear of the inevitable - that of aging - but it really isn't clear why this fear exists. Are we not better people because of the things we've learned through our progression in life (time)? Have we not learned from our mistakes in the past to make us more knowledgeable and experienced today? Shouldn't our battle scars and this knowledge, experience, and proof of existence through yesteryear be considered beautiful?

We as a society should wear this badge of honor with a feeling of accomplishment and our heads held high and as such, it should be seen as a sense of pride and beauty.

But then again, there's nothing wrong with taking a moment to travel back in time while absorbing the magick of a photograph either. Time is infinite after all...
