Clovelly

I picked up Dan and Abi at half-six, this morning, hoping we could miss the Bank Holiday traffic on our journey south to Devon, and we did pretty well all the way to some services on the M5 where we met up with Charlie, Hannah and Milly, but as we left the satnav reported an accident ahead and an extra hour on our ETA.

In the end, it took an additional two hours and we arrived at The Old Chapel, situated just outside Clovelly, about eight hours after we left home. Not too bad. The big girls had stopped off at Westward Ho! to go to the beach, so for a while it was only me, Dan, and Abi. We unpacked the car and had a look around the Chapel, which has been converted beautifully.

Later on in the afternoon, once the girls had turned up and settled in, Hannah, Milly, and I drove down to the car park at the Clovelly Tourist Centre and then ran down the cobbled streets through the town to the harbour, before taking a service road - a rather steep service road - back up to the car.

One quick shower later and Milly and I went out to Woolfardisworthy West (aka "Woolsery") to pick up fish and chips for everyone. And they were excellent! Cracking start to our holiday :-)
