Under the Tyne
Nathaniel and Thomas were lovely together and finally got to sleep at 9.15. A lot better than Ella and her friends. It was 12.15 am. She didn’t even seem tired when we called at 9.30 to drop off Nathaniel and collect James.
Mr C had done some research and found the walking tunnel under the Tyne, close to the car one, had been recently opened. So we headed to Howden where we went down deep in the lift. James found the echo irresistible and shouting and whooped his way through the tunnel. You can see them in the distance running.
At the other side we walked for a while. Thomas was appalled by the rubbish he saw - shopping trolleys, tyres and plastic. Both boys told me in detail how plastic affects marine life, and Thomas collected a lot of rubbish to put in the many bins along the walk.
After we walked back we drove further down river to the ferry and crossed from North to South Shields, where went to a Space exhibition. They spent ages exploring this.
Then we drove to Whitley Bay to get ice cream, before handing the boys back to their Dad.
After three hectic days we are about to pour a stiff gin. There’s still 2 days next week.
And a demo on Saturday.
