First footing?

Today was my first proper walk of this year, out through Tangham woods near Sutton Heath.

When walking through these woods you have to be careful not to get lost amongst the footpaths and deerpaths and trackways which can confuse and bewilder. Particularly as darkness falls. Particularly if there's a grey sky and you can't see where the sun is going.

You could worry that you might end up alone and palely loitering throughout the length of a winters night.

Luckily the sun went down in glory to show us the way back.

And not only glory, but reflected glory!
