Second Blooming Season

(back blip)  If you haven't already, take a peek at the lightning shot I posted today.

This time it's the barrel cactus.  The fish hook barrel cactus to be exact.  They're blooming everywhere.  This one is just about bloomed out.  You can see the dried up flowers.  These cacti are drawn to the south, the direction which receives the most sun during the day.  As they grow taller, they lean more in that direction.  The flowers bloom in a circle on the top.  They aren't the prettiest of cacti but their flowers are among my faves.
