Dragon and Damselflies at Old Moor
RSPB Reserve Old Moor held an event today put on an event led by David Pritchard who is passionate about these insects and knows so much about them. There were a few more people in the group who I know, so it was good to see them. Ann went for a walk around the site on her own and enjoyed herself. I think I’m a little wiser and I’m pretty sure that I can say that this is a male Ruddy Darter. David recommended a book (which of course I had to buy) which is helping me recall some of the things he told us. After lunch, just as we were just setting off to walk back into the reserve the heavens opened. We hung around by the door until it seemed to ease off a bit, but immediately the next heavy shower came down so we went from shelter to hide in the rain. It did eventually stop, at which point we decided it was time to come home.
