Coral spot
The very rare migrant Long-tailed Blue butterfly has been sighted in Sussex over the past few days. Its a species I've never seen so this afternoon I spent several hours looking for it at one of the locations it was seen at in 2015 and where eggs have been found this year. All to no avail. I found the larval food plant easily enough but overcast breezy conditions meant that any butterflies were few and far between. Perhaps another attempt at a different location tomorrow. Here instead is a rather nice display of pink coral spot fungus from this morning's wet walk with the spaniel.
