Progress?

I'm always suspicious of public 'consultations' and this one is no exception. Give the public a few options (making sure that the only options are the ones that the council want) and then say 'look this is what the people want'. The council have finally released (after a great deal of secrecy) the options for Cumberland Basin, sorry, Western Harbour. Two of the plans include building a road to the left of the image along the river and then building a new bridge across the river to connect to the Portway. This will naturally spoil the view of the gorge and the view to the Suspension Bridge. Personally, I doubt these plans would get planning permission, but that's another story as the company that came up with the options is also the same company that will now be 'processing a range of planning applications and associated work' at the council's planning department.
