Sometimes when you go to 'historic sites' you find yourself feeling slightly guilty for dragging your slightly less enthusiastic children there with you as you are also underwhelmed by the 2 pieces of walls and a grassy bump.
And then sometimes you get there and are completely blown away with the whole thing. Dolforwyn castle was built by Llewellyn ap Gruffydd and once you had climbed the steep hill and looked out over the valleys beneath you don't need to be much of a medieval military tactician to work out why!
