An epic adventure

As the sun rose this morning I headed off ski touring with 3 friends. We did about 1100m ascent over 9km so there was quite a lot of huffing and puffing on the way up. At the top we had to put take off our skis, put on our crampons and wield an ice axe to get across a very exposed rock band. After that it was lunch with this stunning view. We then headed down, skiing on a mixture of grass and snow before having to drop into a really dodgy bowl with lots of big avalanche debris, then we got some skiing in (not great snow unfortunately), walk through the woods, cross a muddy steam and ski a bit more before we made it back to the car just as the sun was setting. It was a great day.
