Anniversary.

The shot is of a page from Wainwright's "A Pennine Way Companion"  and a miniature cairn made from pieces of felspar collected from the Cross Fell  Mine spoil heap.

Fifty years ago today, two friends and I completed the 250 mile (400 km approx) Pennine Way after starting from Edale on 6th. August.  On the last day we went from Byrness to the finish at Kirk Yetholm in a single lap, a distance of 26 miles (about 40 km) with a lot of up and down, but we missed out the Cheviot. Having been up there since I'm glad that we did - it would have been the last straw.

The walk was an experience I am please to have had.
