Getting the sparkle back

Isn't she beautiful?

This is not the most original swan blip ever, but I just thought that Mrs Swan on Blackford Pond looked particularly fine today, possibly due to having gone through a moult and gaining a new set of feathers. The cygnets were looking more like young swans and were being quite independent, clamouring for bread on their own while their parents stayed on the island. It looks as if they now have their wing feathers and a fair amount of wing flapping was going on.

Otherwise I saw a male wigeon in eclipse plumage today for the first time on the pond and he is in the extra photo. There were two young little grebe chicks being fed separately by parents, but I don't know if they were one family or two. This must be a second brood as they were younger than the one I had seen earlier this year.
