Kites over Amersham

We went back to Amersham today as a big band concert was promoted in the Memorial Gardens (see extra blip #5).  It was very hot, and the ice cream van outside the gates was doing a roaring trade (blip #6).  It was too hot for us and we didn't stay long.

However, we noticed a tree in the gardens yesterday in memory of James Phillips 1986 - 2014, and I had decided to take a detour to look at a sculpture on a roundabout on the A413 ring road around Amersham.

We parked and got out and I had a chance to look at it properly.  This amazing work of Red Kites by artist/blacksmith Nicholas Packham in memory of James Phillips commissioned by The James Phillips Foundation - http://www.jamesphillipsfoundation.com/

An extraordinary coincidence and what a wonderful legacy.
