Homeward Bound
Farewell to cousins from San Jose (via mainland China, Hong Kong and with a heritage including Native Americans) and plenty of time to prepare for the BA flight home.
When I started to plan the trip, I wondered what to do after reaching New York on the Queen Mary 2. A few online clicks and phone calls later, I had added on an Amtrak journey from NY to San Francisco, arranged to stay with cousins in San Jose and requested a flight variation from Cunard. It was easy to make all the arrangements, though on the transatlantic crossing I began to wonder if it was such a good idea.
As I waited to board the plane for home, I knew that I would plan more slow journeys. Seeing fewer airports would give me more experience of everything else, especially all the wonderful people with whom I spent time; my sister, brother-in-law, cousins, aunt and all the friends I made along the way.
