Pride Parade
It was Härnösand's Pride Parade today. Around 500 people marched, and it was a very positive and enjoyable event. The procession was fun, and the songs and speeches were suitably inspiring. All the political parties were represented apart from the far right (no surprise there), and I didn’t see any Christian Democrats, who are perhaps still debating their beliefs.
The Swedish Church has no such problem and was one of the three groups organising the day. My picture is one of the local priests on stage. In a slight reversal of the usual roles he gave his speech in sign language with the crouched interpreter translating it into spoken Swedish. Because there is a specialist school in Härnösand many families with deaf children moved here so we have a relatively large population of people with sign language as their "mother tongue”, so it’s good that there is a priest who can converse directly with them.
HarlingDarling also wrote a fair bit about the day so I'll link to her blip.
I did something to my back yesterday (carrying all that wood?) so I’m hobbling around today and stopping to lie down and do exercises fairly often. It was a good thing I spent a lot of time walking and standing today - movement is good!
