The Corn Exchange

Before it became the Triangle shopping centre after the bomb in 1996, the Corn Exchange located in Hanging Ditch was home to a number of small shopping units and stalls selling various goods from records to oil burners.

I worked there for a few years back in the early 1990s. My little unit was just on the left hand side as you went through the main doors. The shop sold second hand clothes as well as provided services such as nose piericing and hair wraps.

In the summer, the beautiful glass dome roof would flood the building with warm light and it was almost like working outdoors. Happy memories.
