Next year’s porridge
The hum of combine harvesters has been going on during the last few days and today they started to cut the oats in the adjacent field.  Much of the crop has been flattened as can be seen in the photo and progress seemed slow compared with normal harvesting and probably the yield is low   In the extra I think the driver was checking the blades on the cutter bar to try to lift the stalks in order to cut them more easily. Compared with the man the machinery is huge,  yet this is the smaller of the two combines in the field.
