Ramblings and Mutterings

Walking in the Footsteps of Romans and Others

Another achievement for me today, as I climbed Fan Nedd in the Western Beacons, which is 663 metres high, another step up from Sugar Loaf.

It was an awesome day with my friend Rachel, as well as summiting the mountain, we took in two standing stones, Maen Madoc and Maen Llia, a Roman camp, a Roman road and just fabulous views across the Beacons further west and back east.

The standing stones have interesting stories.  Maen Madoc is presumed a burial site, with Madoc buried underneath, but who was he/she?  No one knows.

Maen Llia is an impressive standing stone, the type of stone is not from it's location, so how did it get there?  It's an eerie place to be around, it feels like it has some power.  Even more so when at Midsummer's Night it walks down to the brook behind it.  Ooohhhh!

It feels good to be out!
