I spotted a number (without wearing my glasses) on the centre plate of the steering wheel, 12/50, I googled Alvis and found the number signified it was built somewhere between 1923 and 1932 and 3600 were manufactured, English, of course.
Crispin25, you might be able to find out more.

MrD thought I could have removed the cardboard and the umbrella from behind Alvis - I wasn't moving anything near Alvis.
